State and Federal Contractors Water Agency

The State and Federal Contractors Water Agency was formed in August of 2009 as a Joint Powers Authority under California law by various water agencies that receive water transported across the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta by the State Water Project and Central Valley Project. The organization’s mission is to assist its member agencies in assuring a sufficient and reliable high-quality water supply for their customers from the State Water Project and federal Central Valley Project. The core focus of activities in pursuing this mission is centered on facilitating habitat conservation measures and research related to the restoration of the Delta ecosystem while assuring sufficient and reliable export water supplies.

Member Agencies

 Members of the SFCWA include the Santa Clara Valley Water District, Westlands Water District, Kern County Water Agency, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the State Water Project Contractors Authority and the San Luis and Delta Mendota Water Authority. Each of these entities is represented on a nine-member board of directors who meet monthly. President of the Agency is Jason Peltier, San Luis and Delta Mendota Water Authority, Vice President is Craig Wallace, Kern County Water Agency. The Executive Director is Byron Buck. The SFCWA offices are located at 1121 L Street Suite 806, Sacramento California 95814.

Assist SFCWA member agencies in assuring a sufficient, reliable and high-quality water supply for their customers; maximize the efficient operation of the State Water Project and Federal Central Valley Project.   SFCWA has 3 main program areas to accomplish our mission:
